Katella (3-4, 1-1) led, 21-6, at halftime behind a pair of Ryan Irving rushing touchdowns and a 28-yard scoring pass from Orlando Gonzalez to Tyler Gunderson. The Knights broke open the game in the second half by scoring three touchdowns set up by Cypress turnovers.

A three-yard touchdown run by Jason Siegrist, which followed a Pete Blasi fumble recovery in Cypress territory, gave the Knights a 28-6 lead with 9 minutes 35 seconds left in the third quarter. Cypress (2-5, 0-2) turned the ball over on its next possession and Katella converted the first fumble recovery into a 10-yard touchdown run by Gary Hennessey two plays later to make the score 32-6. Early in the fourth quarter, Katella defensive lineman Mark Larsen picked up a Flanagan fumble and returned it 85 yards for the Knights’ final touchdown.

Cypress quarterback Gabe Garcia was 31 of 44 for 328 yards.
