MISSION VIEJO : Vocational Training Grants Are Available
Older students seeking vocational training or retraining in the 1992-93 and 1993-94 school years can apply for $1,000 grants to enroll in technical courses at Saddleback College.
Although high school seniors are eligible, applicants pursuing programs that do not lead to bachelor’s degrees are preferred for the grants.
Students planning to transfer to four-year colleges or universities should not apply.
The Elks National Foundation has put aside $682,000 for 341 grants to be distributed in allotments of $1,000 each year for two years. The grants will be awarded so that at least one student from each state--in addition to one from Puerto Rico, Guam or another Pacific Island--will be a recipient.
Grant applications are available at the Financial Aid Office at the college, and at local Elks lodges. The application deadline is Nov. 22. For more information, call the college at (714) 582-4860.
