Hammer vs. Ice Cube: Rap star Hammer’s new album “Too Legit to Quit” is the follow-up to one of the biggest albums of 1990, so it was widely expected to enter the charts at No. 1. But he ends up No. 3--behind Garth Brooks and Ice Cube in the Billboard magazine chart coming out Saturday. Ice Cube’s controversial “Death Certificate,” which has been assailed by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, outsold Hammer approximately 105,000 to 92,000, but neither came close to Brooks’ “Ropin’ the Wind” with sales of about 169,000 albums.
