An Oceanside man is being sought in the stabbing death of his wife, police said Thursday.

Maria Elvira Roman, 37, was found about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday by Oceanside police in her living room. She had several stab wounds, police said. She was taken to a nearby community center, where a medical helicopter had been summoned, but she died before being transported to a hospital, authorities said.

Her husband, Gerard Roman, 41, reportedly ran from the apartment on Vandegrift Boulevard, police said. The couple’s two children, ages 10 and 3, were in the apartment with their wounded mother when officers arrived, Officer Bob Burke said.

Police said there had been previous reports of domestic violence at the Romans’ home that required officers to respond, but no arrests were made.
