One man was shot to death and another was wounded as they stood in the rear parking lot of a Sepulveda fast-food restaurant early Saturday, Los Angeles police said.

A gunman jumped from a passing car, opened fire on Javier Luna and Eber Moreno, both 18, about 12:20 a.m., then got back into the car, which sped away, said Lt. Frank Malen.

Luna was pronounced dead at the scene in the 8300 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. Moreno was in serious condition late Saturday after surgery at Northridge Hospital Medical Center. The hometowns of the victims were not released.

Witnesses told police that the gunman shot each victim several times before fleeing in a light-colored car, Malen said. He said the shooting appeared to be gang-related, but that police do not know for certain whether the victims were gang members.

Police had made no arrests in the shooting late Saturday, Malen said.
