Police on Monday continued their search for two masked gunmen who burst into a Torrance restaurant, forced employees and customers to lie on the floor and made off with credit cards and $300 cash.
Cafe Toulous Street, a Cajun restaurant at 2170 W. Torrance Blvd., was robbed about 8 p.m. Sunday when the gunmen entered the eatery just before closing time, Torance Police Sgt. Paul Besse said. After forcing patrons and employees to lie on the floor, the robbers rifled through their pockets, stealing cash, credit cards and other valuables. They also stole a strongbox containing an unknown amount of money and credit card receipts, Besse said.
The gunmen escaped in an ivory-colored Cadillac, Besse said. It was unknown whether a driver was awaiting them. “They seemed to know what they were doing and were very efficient,” said cafe manager Peter Young.
