Ian Baker-Finch, the British Open champion, shot a four-under-par 68 and took a one-shot lead over Masters champion Ian Woosnam in the $1-million PGA Grand Slam of Golf at Kauai Lagoons, Hawaii.
Baker-Finch had four birdies and no bogeys over the 7,035-yard Kiele Course. Woosnam birdied No. 17 to pull within one shot of the lead after a round of six birdies and three bogeys.
Payne Stewart, the U.S. Open champion, was two strokes back at 70. PGA champion John Daly had five bogeys on the first eight holes, then shot a three-under 33 on the back side for a 73.
