Gun Battle Erupts Inside Westside Mall

A gun battle erupted inside the Westside Pavilion Wednesday night between two armed robbers and a jewelry store merchant, police said.
No one was hit by the bullets, but one of the men working at Dekara Jewelers was pistol-whipped by a robbers. The injured man, believed to be the owner of the store, was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization. The robbers escaped with an undetermined amount of gems.
Lt. John Weaver said the incident at the trendy three-story shopping mall occurred at about 8 p.m.
