A workshop on quilt history and exhibits of quilting and weaving are being offered this week.

A two-part workshop entitled, “American History Through The Eyes of a Quilt,” meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today and Nov. 21 at the Felicita Foundation, Mathes Center, 247 S. Kalmia, Escondido. Participants will examine antique quilts and learn how to read their messages. Participants can bring in their own quilts for sharing and dating. Cost is $25. Call 743-3322.

The Palomar College Library, 1140 W. Mission Road, San Marcos, hosts an exhibit entitled, “Quilts and Quilting: An American Tradition,” through Dec. 6. A variety of quilts, newly sewn and antique, includes pieced, appliqued, biscuit, and embroidered styles. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays. The library is closed weekends.

The San Diego Creative Weaver’s Guild will present its juried exhibition “The Challenge of Contrast” at the La Jolla Village Square Shopping Center, Community Room, 9657 La Jolla Village Drive. Contemporary and traditional weaving styles will be displayed daily beginning Saturday through Nov. 26. Hours of the exhibit are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. There will be an opening reception Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
