Memorial services for Beverley Yip, a leader in San Diego’s Asian-American community, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Mission Valley. Yip died Monday of liver cancer at age 59.
Yip founded the Union of Pan Asian Communities in 1974, San Diego County’s largest social service agency for the 190,000 Asian-American residents in the area. She also lobbied forcefully for stronger support for immigrants and other needy persons across ethnic lines.
