Re “Time to Get Rid of That Big Stuff” (Oct. 23): The article was irresponsibly written. It stated that refrigerators and other large items could be picked up with the regular trash during Dana Point’s cleanup week.
Unused refrigerators are very dangerous--especially to small children. The doors should be removed or strapped shut before placing them out on the curb.
You were careful to point out that hazardous waste would not be collected. A refrigerator can be just as hazardous.
