Medina Puts Title on Line in Forum Fight
Manuel Medina makes the first defense of the featherweight championship he won last summer when he meets Tom Johnson tonight at the Forum.
Medina became the International Boxing Federation featherweight titlist last Aug. 12 at the Forum when he dethroned Troy Dorsey on a unanimous decision.
If recent Forum championship boxing history holds tonight, Medina (39-3), from Tijuana, will be dethroned, too. In the last 12 months at the Forum, the challenger has won six of seven championship fights.
Johnson (26-1-1), from Detroit, has won five in a row by knockout since having a draw with Dorsey a year ago. Medina is unbeaten over two years.
