Aloha, It’s Yesterday: No, NBC’s “Today” hasn’t performed a miracle and produced daylight in Hawaii when it really is the wee hours there. “Today” began a week of programs from Hawaii on Monday, taping each show the day before broadcast. If the shows were done live, “Today” would have to start in darkness at 2 a.m. Hawaiian time to fit its mainland broadcast schedule. Bryant Gumbel advises viewers the program is recorded at the start of each show.
