Director Named to Media District Panel

A transportation and land-use expert has been appointed executive director of an organization of entertainment industry executives and developers who are devising plans to reduce traffic in the Burbank Media District.

Judith Johnston-Weston, who most recently served as vice president of the Downtown Los Angeles Transportation Management Assn., will head the Burbank Media District Transportation Management Organization, said chairman Alan Epstein, vice president of Walt Disney Development Co.

Johnston-Weston will oversee coordination of car pools, van pools, mass transit and other methods of reducing traffic in the Media District, which is dominated by three major movie and television studios and a number of smaller related firms.

She also will spearhead the organization’s involvement in the development of Los Angeles County’s 30-Year Integrated Transportation Plan, he said.

Under a city ordinance adopted this year, all Media District employers with 25 or more employees, and owners of buildings of more than 25,000 square feet, must join the transportation organizaton, officials said.
