Glendale 28, Paramount 14--Pathon Rucker rushed for 249 yards and two touchdowns in 21 carries to lead the Nitros at home. Glendale, which won its 10th consecutive game since opening the season with a loss, nearly squandered a 21-0 halftime lead.
Four second-half Glendale turnovers enabled Paramount (5-6) to make a serious rally. The Pirates, a Division II finalist in 1990, scored 14 unanswered points and appeared to score the tying touchdown only to have a clipping penalty wipe out the score.
Receiver Mike Wright caught two first-half touchdown passes from quarterback Nathan Callister for the Nitros. He caught a five-yard scoring pass and added a 32-yard touchdown reception with less than two minutes remaining in the first half. Glendale will play Dana Hills.
