A crackdown on narcotics dealing at Palisades Park in Santa Monica resulted in 25 more arrests Friday and Saturday, bringing the total number of felony drug arrests at the oceanfront park this month to 191, police said.

Sgt. John Miehle of the Santa Monica Police anti-drug task force said many of those arrested purchased drugs from undercover officers posing as dealers. Miehle said more than 360 narcotics arrests have been made since the crackdown began in October.

Miehle said Police Chief James Butts, who came to the department in September, ordered stepped up enforcement in the park. “He wants the word to go out that drug dealing and buying will not be tolerated in Santa Monica,” Miehle said.
