Man Found Lying on Brea Street Dies of Gunshot Wounds

BREA — A 23-year-old man died of multiple gunshot wounds early Wednesday after he was found lying on a street, police said.
Police said they found Joel Frazier Leigh, 23, in the 200 block of West Birch Street. Leigh was taken to Brea Community Hospital, where he died at 12:50 a.m., according to a hospital spokesman.
Police went to the Birch Street neighborhood after a man called to report a traffic accident, Brea Police Detective Grant Gulickson said.
A witness told officers that he saw Leigh lying in the street near a bicycle. Thinking he saw a hit-and-run accident, the witness briefly followed two men he saw leaving the scene in a red sedan, Gulickson said.
No motive for the shooting has been established, Gulickson said.
