Wide receiver Mervyn Fernandez of the Raiders pleaded not guilty in Torrance to two felony charges of indecent exposure. On Oct. 30, Fernandez allegedly exposed himself to a woman from the balcony of his El Segundo apartment.

The charges normally would be misdemeanors, but Fernandez was charged with felonies when authorities learned that he had been convicted of a similar offense in 1982 in San Jose, Deputy District Attorney Ronald Geltz said. Fernandez is free on $5,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing on Jan. 14 in Inglewood Municipal Court.
