At Primarily Purple, everything is exactly as the name promises. Owners Anita and Ira Horn began their violet-centered venture more than three years ago with purple dresses. When fans started pouring in, many of them with purple hair, Anita recalls, items such as I Purple bumper stickers, “Purple Power” T-shirts and a frameable purple-lovers’ creed on purple parchment were added.

Now, the inventory also includes everything from grape-scented pencils and lavender teddy bears to violet hair clips and felt berets. About the only purple item the store shoppers won’t find is Elizabeth Taylor’s Passion. But that’s hardly enough to dissuade hard-core amethyst aficionados. Fortunately, none of this purple stuff requires a lot of green. Nothing in the shop sells for more than $50.
