With Sunday’s discovery of a third body found stabbed to death in Balboa Park, officials are investigating the possibility that the homicides are connected.

Michael W. Hamilton of El Cajon was found Sunday after San Diego police received a tip from an anonymous caller. Hamilton, 48, was found partially buried in a shallow grave under the Laurel Street bridge near California 163.

On Nov. 4, the body of a man believed to be between the ages of 55 and 60 was found among a pile of clothing at the west end of the park. He had been stabbed numerous times and remains unidentified.

After a tip from an anonymous caller on Nov. 10, police found the body of a man in his early 20s who had been stabbed while lying in the grass in the Marston Point area of Balboa Park. The second victim also has not been identified.

Although no concrete evidence has been found that links the crimes, the police have asked the county medical examiner to look for a connection because all three victims had been stabbed and were found with in a quarter of a mile of each other, San Diego Police Lt. Paul Ybarrondo said.
