4 Students Place in Speech Competition

Katie Houser and Liliana Ramirez, students at Mountain View High School, placed first and second respectively in the El Monte Union High School District Speech Competition.

Thuy Tran of Arroyo High School was third and Peter Huang of Rosemead High School was fourth.

Each of the district’s four schools, including El Monte High School, sent two freshmen who had won their school’s competition.

The event, sponsored by the Friendly El Monte Democratic Club, was held Nov. 20 at El Monte City Hall. The topic was “Freedom’s Flame--Burning Bright Throughout the World.”
