Fire Erupts in Building Scheduled for Demolition
It took firefighters about 45 minutes today to extinguish a blaze in a former Gemco building in Carson that was scheduled for demolition.
Twenty-eight firefighters were called to 2062 E. 220th St. shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, said county Fire Department spokesman Clark Pearson.
Because the building is scheduled for demolition, firefighters were mainly concerned with preventing the flames from spreading to other structures, Pearson said. No other buildings were damaged, he said, adding that the cause of the fire was under investigation.
