A 13-year-old Westminster boy said he deliberately started a fire Tuesday night that burned part of an electrical substation, authorities said.

Damage was estimated at $25,000, and no injuries were reported, Fire Capt. Craig Campbell said.

The boy, whose name was withheld because of his age, was discovered at the scene of the 5:28 p.m. blaze and will be entered in a Fire Department counseling program, Campbell said.

The fire burned about 200 feet of cedar shingles along the top of a concrete wall at a Southern California Edison substation at 9900 McFadden Ave.

Thirty-two firefighters took about half an hour to douse the flames, Campbell said.
