A slain man whose body was found in an orange grove in November was identified Wednesday as Salvador Guillen Murillo, police said.

The body of Murillo, also known as Chava, was found at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 by the son of the property owner in the grove near the intersection of Bastanchury Road and Lakeview Avenue, police said. He had been shot in the head and abdomen, they said.

Neighbors told police they heard gunshots between 12:30 and 2 p.m.

Murillo was about 50 years old, 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, police said. He had black hair, brown eyes and a bushy black mustache. Police said he was a transient who lived in his gold or brown 1977 Chevrolet Malibu Classic in Bell Gardens.
