From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Flames roared through the warehouse of a plastics manufacturing company in the City of Commerce on Friday, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. The greater-alarm blaze at the American Corp. Plant No. 1, at 7436 Bandini Blvd., was reported shortly before 4 a.m., and about 65 county firefighters arrived to find flames shooting through the roof, authorities said. They said that while plastics and polyurethane products used in pressure molding of plastic logs were stored in the warehouse, a hazardous materials unit dispatched to the scene was not needed in fighting the blaze. The fire was doused by 4:30 a.m., and no injuries were reported.
