Westside : Coastal Panel Appointment
Assembly Speaker Willie Brown (D-San Francisco) has appointed Santa Cruz City Councilwoman Jane Yokoyama to a two-year term on the California Coastal Commission.
Yokoyama, a former Santa Cruz mayor, fills a spot left vacant in September by the departure of Robert Franco, another Brown appointee. A member of the City Council since 1988, Yokoyama serves on the council’s Outer Continental Shelf subcommittee, which deals with issues related to offshore oil drilling and ocean transportation.
Yokoyama is director of immigration services for the Santa Cruz County Immigration Project.
