From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A six-mile section of Interstate 5 was closed for eight hours in Northern California after a truck carrying hazardous chemicals overturned, highway officials said. No chemicals spilled in Saturday’s accident about 60 miles north of Sacramento, but the highway was closed while workers carted away the drums of chemicals, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Highway Patrol official said the cause of the accident hadn’t been determined, but said it had been raining and there was gusty wind at the time. In Central California, windblown dust had shut down about 200 miles of I-5 all day Friday in the San Joaquin Valley, including a section where 17 people died in a violent dust storm the day after Thanksgiving. That section reopened before the accident north of Sacramento.
