COLLEGE FOOTBALL / BOWL REPORT : HANCOCK : Three UCLA Stars Say They’ll Be Back
Three prominent UCLA players said Sunday that they don’t intend to enter the NFL draft next April as underclassmen.
Quarterback Tommy Maddox, a redshirt sophomore, junior tailback Kevin Williams and junior wide receiver Sean LaChapelle said they intend to play for the Bruins next season.
“I still have a lot to learn,” said LaChapelle, the Pacific 10’s leading receiver with 68 catches for 987 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The players are also looking forward to next season because the Bruins expect to have a strong, experienced team. UCLA, which plays Illinois in Tuesday’s John Hancock Bowl at El Paso, Tex., returns 14 starting players, eight on offense and six on defense.
