From Staff and Wire Reports

Joe Greene not only didn’t get the Pittsburgh Steelers’ coaching job, he may not remain on their staff as an assistant.

Bill Cowher will be named the Steelers’ coach today and will be allowed to hire his own assistants. Several Steeler assistants, among them Dick Hoak and George Stewart, might retain their jobs.

But Greene might not be retained because his presence could prove distracting to Cowher and might divide some players who wanted Greene to be the coach.
