Hall of Fame jockey Angel Cordero Jr., whose spleen was removed during surgery on Jan. 13 after a racing spill, was in stable and improving condition Wednesday at Long Island Jewish Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.

The hospital said it planned to move Cordero into a private room.

Cordero also broke three ribs and his left arm in the four-horse accident in the second race on the program at Aqueduct on Jan. 12.
