Bad Economy Becomes Good for the Coliseum
Every cloud has a silver lining. Thank God that the Coliseum renovation is on hold because of the stagnant economy and the resulting unwillingness on the part of reasonable people to squander exorbitant sums of money for “Coliseum Club” seats and luxury boxes.
I know a number of USC alumni and season ticket-holders, like myself, who feel that the Coliseum is a beautiful, historic site just the way it is. It would be a major disaster to do any renovation that would alter its present form. It is great for events other than football, too. Never mind Al Davis and the Raiders. The Coliseum was here long before they arrived and it will be here long after they are gone.
