Pan Am Sues Delta: Defunct Pan Am Corp. filed a $2.5-billion lawsuit accusing its one-time partner, Delta Air Lines Inc., of driving it out of business. Pan Am said it was forced to cease operations last December “as a result of Delta’s breach of its obligation.” The two airlines had forged an agreement last August under which the struggling Pan Am sold most of its assets to Atlanta-based Delta. Delta said it would help fund the reorganization of the once-dominant Pan Am into a smaller carrier focusing on Latin America. Delta said Pan Am’s lawsuit was “without merit.” The company said it met or exceeded all of the obligations it was required to provide. It had paid $115 million to Pan Am.
