INSTITUTE OF THE ARTS : Black History Month Marked

CalArts will present a variety of performances, lectures and forums during its observance of Black History Month, beginning Tuesday.
The celebration, with the theme “For Whose Entertainment?” examines the experiences of African-Americans from slavery to the present.
A lecture-demonstration by artist Essex Hemphill will kick off the week at 6 p.m. Tuesday. He will also appear at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Other programs will be presented throughout the month.
