Please Don’t ‘Discover’

While I enjoyed the article, “Adventurious Walk in a Desert Hole in the Wall,” Jan 12, which described features such as the hiking trails and campsites in the East Mojave National Scenic Area, stories such as this tend to upset me. I have been enjoying many of the features described in the article for years and have also enjoyed the isolated nature of the area, which has always lacked great numbers of tourists. Articles such as this, in a newspaper that is read by millions, can do nothing but add to the number of people who will “discover” this area. Some people like myself would prefer that certain areas remain undiscovered.
