THOUSAND OAKS : Transient Arrested After Bank Robbery

Share

A 54-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of robbing a Thousand Oaks bank after allegedly threatening to detonate a bomb unless a teller gave him money.

Jarome J. Fesenmeyer, a transient from Santa Monica who Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said is well known as a street person, was apprehended just after 1 p.m. near the Bank of A. Levy at 3815 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Detective Ed Wyand said. He had fled after a teller had given him an undisclosed amount of money. At the time of his arrest, Fesenmeyer was wearing a towel around his head and a heavy blanket draped over his shoulders, which matched the description witnesses gave of the robber’s attire, Wyand said.

Deputies searched the suspect and found money but no bomb, Wyand said.

Fesenmeyer is being held without bail pending arraignment later this week, Wyand said.

Tuesday’s incident was the 12th bank robbery in Ventura County this year and the first in Thousand Oaks, Federal Bureau of Investigations Supervisor Gary Auer said.
