THE OLYMPICS: WINTER GAMES AT ALBERTVILLE : NOTES
- Share via
U.S. hockey Coach Dave Peterson said his team “is not trying to play an overly aggressive style,” despite complaints from Swedish Olympic Coach Conny Evensson that the United States was more rugged than necessary in a 3-2 exhibition victory over Sweden on Wednesday in Chamonix.
“The Swedish coach will sit here and tell you it was the most physical game ever played,” Peterson said. “I understand the Swedish press said we knocked out Bengt Gustafsson’s teeth. The truth is he collided with another Swedish player. . . . If you were there, you would know it was not a physical game. The Swedish coach is going to cry and complain because he wants to put the monkey on our back.”
