CRIME WATCH: No surprise, prostitution is the most prominent county statistic where women outnumber men. Women also outnumber them on bad-check charges and have significant numbers in dangerous drugs and burglaries. But Assistant Dist. Atty. Brent F. Romney notes: “The vast majority of violent crimes are committed by men. When it’s a woman, it’s usually because she’s helping a man.” . . . Regarding the 25% male figure on prostitution charges: most are “johns.”
