Bicycle Story Takes Twists and Turns

As one who has moved a family of five into the downtown area of Huntington Beach, I am very distressed by the attitude of my new City Council. What is the impact upon pedestrians and local residents when PCH becomes a six-lane freeway?

I have just made a considerable investment in buying a home close to the beach, so my family could enjoy walking to the beach or listening to the surf from our home. I’m sure my new neighbors are going to be letting their council representatives know how they feel about listening to the traffic noise and dodging heavy metal to get to the beach.

The city decided to sell their rights to the road to the state for a couple million dollars. The city claims they have no choice? The city has a choice! Pay now and buy the road back or pay later when our kids get run over by cars and the local business people wave goodby to the soon-to-depart neighborhood.

In Del Mar, they put up more stop signs to slow down the traffic and keep their residents safe and happy. In Huntington Beach, they try to get the traffic going quicker and thicker. Who is it that calls this Surf City?
