OJAI : Sewage Plant Study Cost Could Rise 75%

Share

An engineering study for a mandatory upgrade of the Ojai Valley Sanitary District sewage treatment plant may cost 75% more than was originally planned if board members decide to extend an engineering study at a meeting tonight, authorities said.

The original study of 110 drawings, approved in 1990, will not adequately address all of the issues involved in the project, said district general manager Eric Oltmann.

A district subcommittee has pointed out several other areas that should be included in the study and has forwarded a recommendation to the board that it approve 83 additional drawings, Oltmann said.

The $648,000 cost of the study could increase by as much as 75% if all 83 drawings are approved, Oltmann said.

The board may approve all, some or none of the additional drawings, Oltmann said.
