Ivanisevic saved two match points with blistering serves when down, 4-5, in the third set and another with an ace, at 6-7, in the tiebreaker.
“I had the match points, but they were all on his serve and with him it’s a lottery,” Courier said. “You never know what he’s going to do.”
In addition, the ATP tour fined Boris Becker ($1,000), Ivan Lendl ($1,000), John McEnroe ($450) and Ivanisevic ($500). All were for outbursts except McEnroe, who broke his racket during a loss to Karel Novacek.
