A 2-year-old North Hollywood boy who was revived by a police officer after the toddler fell into a swimming pool was released from Childrens Hospital on Saturday, authorities said.

Snir Lushitzer wandered away from his family’s apartment in the 6100 block of Coldwater Canyon Avenue about 4:50 p.m. Friday and fell into the pool in the apartment complex, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Cliff Boyer.

Snir, who was not breathing when his father pulled him from the pool, was revived with the help of a police officer who was formerly a nurse, Boyer said.

“He was only underwater a couple of seconds--just long enough to get a lung full of water,” Boyer said. “The child was turning purple and his father didn’t know what to do.”

Officer Linda Murphy, a nurse before joining the department in 1985, was on patrol nearby, responded to a 911 call and was able to clear the child’s airway and revive him, Boyer said.
