Police Identify Body of Man in Shallow Grave
A man whose body was found buried in a shallow grave in Lancaster two weeks ago was identified Sunday as George William Hagnes, a 26-year-old transient.
Hagnes, who was found Feb. 9 near 18th Street East and Avenue L by a man walking his dog, was identified through fingerprint records, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Mary Landreth said.
Coroner’s investigators were unable to determine how Hagnes died, but Landreth said the death was being treated as a homicide.
It was unclear how long Hagnes had been dead, Landreth said, noting that the body was badly decomposed.
