Glendale Player Dropped From Team for Playoffs

Glendale College basketball player Harry Marks, the Vaqueros’ fourth-leading scorer, has been kicked off the team and will not play against host Rancho Santiago in the first round of the Southern California regionals Saturday night.
Marks, a freshman from North Hollywood High who was averaging 11.5 points a game, skipped school Monday and Tuesday. Coach Brian Beauchemin dropped him from the team for the rest of the season when he learned Marks did not have a legitimate excuse for missing class.
“These kids are supposed to be here to learn,” Beauchemin said, “and going to class is part of that.”
Rancho Santiago (21-9) is the two-time defending state champion and the No. 6-seeded team in the 32-team regional. Glendale (13-16) is the No. 27-seeded team.
