The Southern California Veterinary Medical Assn., in cooperation with the Los Angeles Departments of Animal Regulation and Recreation and Parks, is scheduling eight low-cost rabies vaccination clinics for dogs beginning Saturday.
All dogs that are 4 months or older must be vaccinated against rabies under state, county and city ordinances. Rabies vaccinations provide protection for one year for dogs 4 months to 12 months old, and for three years for dogs 1 year old and older.
A general inoculation will also be available and is recommended for protection against other canine diseases, but is not required by law. The rabies vaccination costs $4 and the other shot costs $9. Veterinarians will be on hand in recreation center parking lots on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 4:40 p.m., and on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at these locations:
