RESEDA : Intruder Who Made 911 Call Enters Plea

Share

A man who authorities say broke into a Reseda liquor store, then called 911 for help in getting out of the locked building, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony burglary.

Robert Laughton, 23, of Reseda was released without bail and ordered to return to Van Nuys Municipal Court on March 12 for a preliminary hearing. He faces up to three years in prison if convicted, Deputy Dist. Atty. Elliott Fisher said.

Police say Laughton climbed through a rooftop air-conditioning vent after 2 a.m. Sunday, then dropped down into Rick’s Liquor. When officers answered Laughton’s distress call, police said, he was smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer, both taken from the store.
