A 15-month-old girl was seriously injured Wednesday night when her mother accidentally backed her car over the child, police said.
Amber Jones suffered a broken pelvis after Salynda Gray, 21, backed her car over the girl while leaving the driveway outside her apartment on C Street, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. He said it was not know why the child was behind the car.
The girl was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Police are investigating, Robinson said.
