COVINA : Deputies Credited With Rescue of Drowning Boy
Two sheriff’s deputies Thursday were credited with saving the life of a 3-year-old boy who nearly drowned in his back yard swimming pool in the county area of Covina.
The deputies went to a house in the 5100 block of Lyman Avenue about 9:30 a.m., after Xochita Cisneros found her son, Joshua Perez, in the pool, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Benita Hinojos.
Deputies William Horwitz and Ruben Martinez arrived two minutes later, Hinojos said. “Deputy Horwitz held the child and began CPR while Deputy Martinez drove them to a hospital, where he was revived.”
The boy was treated at AMI San Dimas Community Hospital and was transferred to the intensive care ward of Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. He was in critical but stable condition.
