Gassner Sets Career Best in 50 Freestyle

Lindsay Gassner, seeded 46th, shaved 0.14 seconds off her entry time to finish 24th in the 50-meter freestyle in the U.S. Olympic swimming trials at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Gassner, a Hart High sophomore who lives in Valencia, set a career best with her time of 26.68.

Two area swimmers competed in the 200 butterfly on the last day of trials competition. Courtney Lowe, 21, of Thousand Oaks and UC Santa Barbara, finished 27th in 2:19.41, and Northridge’s Kristine Quance, 16, of Calabasas-based CLASS Aquatics, followed in 28th in 2:19.77.
