BEL-AIR : University to Offer Jewish Mini-School

Share

University of Judaism administrators say they have received an encouraging early response to plans to offer an unusual, two-year “mini-school” for Jewish adults who appreciate their cultural heritage but want to know more about their religion.

“About 30 people have expressed interest since we announced the program in January even though we haven’t decided what the fee will be yet,” said Rabbi Jack Shechter, dean of the Department of Continuing Education.

“There are many serious Jewish adults who know a lot about their religion, but they don’t know how it fits altogether,” Shechter said.

Beginning in the fall, the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School will meet 30 times a year for two years, offering either an evening or daytime schedule. Educators at Jerusalem’s Hebrew University prepared the course curriculum, which will be taught by faculty at the hilltop campus at 15600 Mulholland Drive, Bel-Air.
