CARLSBAD : Carlsbad Man Hit, Killed by Train

A 24-year-old Carlsbad man died instantly Sunday when he was struck by an Amtrak train traveling 90 m.p.h., coroner’s officials said.
Alejandro Sebastion Sanchez was killed shortly after 7:30 p.m. as he tried to run west across the tracks a half mile north of Cannon Road in Carlsbad, Dan Matticks, an investigator with the county coroner’s office, said. Sanchez was struck by the southbound San Diegan.
The engineer did not see Sanchez, who was dressed in dark clothing and wearing a stereo headset, Matticks said.
